Students in the Ceramics program learn the basic techniques of handbuilding, wheelworking, moldmaking, glazing, and kiln-firing. The program includes work in ceramic casting, architectural ceramics, and clay and glaze materials. Students explore contemporary and traditional approaches in both ceramic sculpture and vessel-making. They have their own work tables in the ceramics studios; six large electric kilns and four large gas-fired kilns are available. Installations that incorporate multiple mediums and conceptual issues are part of the curriculum.
