First-rate facilities, renowned faculty, an impressive roster
of exhibitions, lectures and presentations, and its location in
the culturally rich city of Boston – all these have placed
Massachusetts College of Art among the nation’s top-ranked
graduate art programs. Last year, U.S. News and World Report ranked
Massachusetts College of Art 3rd among graduate art programs in
New England. Drawing students from distinguished undergraduate
programs in the U.S. as well as from India, Serbia, Korea, Brazil,
Germany, Zimbabwe, Russia, and other nations – the Massachusetts
College of Art MFA program has become an artistic community that
is truly international in scope
At MassArt, graduate students have numerous opportunities to
collaborate with fellow artists across departmental and media
areas. In their first semester, all Fine Arts and Media graduate
students take two courses, a Graduate Seminar in which students
discuss current practices in the visual arts, and a course in
Contemporary Art History. Each spring, graduate student thesis
exhibitions – group shows presented in the college’s
professional galleries – are visited by some of Boston’s
most distinguished art critics and curators.
