The teachers in the Photography Program provide a rigorous analysis of images and
image-making. They include Barbara Bosworth, Frank Goelhke, Andrea Hoelscher,
Laura McPhee, Abelardo Morell, and Nick Nixon, a very prominent group of
photographers who have created a challenging and supportive environment for our
students. In concert with visiting artists, critics, and curators, these faculty
provide a rigorous analysis of images and image-making.
Students pursue work deriving from photography, including documentary,
installation, digitally altered, video, and mixed and multimedia options.
State-of-the-art facilities are available for this work, including a nonsilver
darkroom, color and large format printers, a Polaroid 20x24" camera, assorted
photographic equipment, and computer facilities.
MassArt also provides a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities to support
this dialogue. Graduate photo students have shared MFA darkrooms,
assorted individual studio spaces, and a seminar classroom for
their use. In addition, students have access to a non-silver darkroom,
color and large format printers, a Polaroid 20 x 24 inch camera,
and assorted photographic equipment and computer facilities.
